About Susan B Carlo

Susan Burr Carlo attended art school at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. There she learned techniques of photo realism, but soon departed from the exact technical nature of this painting style, in favor of a more personal interpretation.

Working from her own photographs, she paints glimpses of the natural world, with the mystery and changes in focus that are part of our visual experience.  She often works from flowers, but in a way that shows the energy and even symbolism that might be unnoticed by casual observation.

In addition to her work as an artist, Susan has also had an extended and very enjoyable career as a teacher of art.
